Robot Hotels
Where service robots, smart hospitality and overnight stays collide — dinosaur check-in, humanoid front desks, in-room companions and living case studies for commercial service robotics.

FlyZoo Hotel, launched by Alibaba on 18 December 2018 in western Hangzhou, was the most ambitious Chinese attempt to redesign a hotel around a connected AI + identity + robotics stack. Its 7-stage guest journey (mobile booking → facial check-in → face-based access → smart elevators → Tmall Genie voice rooms → robot delivery → mobile check-out) remains a landmark reference for smart environments. Joining it as an upcoming flagship is PUDU Robot Hotel on the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link West Artificial Island (planned trial by end of 2026), Pudu Robotics’ 44-room full-scenario multi-robot ecosystem using PuduFM 1.0 + PuduAgent embodied-AI “One Brain, Multiple Embodiments” shared intelligence across 7 robot platforms.

Alibaba’s AI-Powered Future Hotel · Hangzhou
FlyZoo Hotel in Hangzhou is Alibaba’s pioneering AI-powered Future Hotel, opened on 18 December 2018 at Letao City / Qinchengli (Building 8, No. 969 Wenyi West Road, Yuhang District) inside the Alibaba / Future Science and Technology City area. A full-stack 7-stage guest journey around digital identity: mobile booking → facial-recognition check-in → face-based room access → smart elevators → Tmall Genie voice room control (lights, TV, curtains, temperature) → service-robot food, drink, coffee & cocktail delivery → mobile check-out. FlyZoo is therefore a smart-environment reference, not just a robot hotel.

Trial operation targeted by end of 2026, public opening 2027.
Japan · 1 Hotel
Henn na Hotel pioneered the robot-hotel concept on 17 July 2015 at Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki. Today it has evolved into a nationwide hospitality-tech network that deliberately mixes dinosaur or humanoid robot front desks with human staff, RoBoHoN in-room companions, LG Styler, holographic check-in, Futocon sleep systems and Chromecast-enabled rooms. The 2019 operational reset (fewer robots after some real-world friction) is itself a valuable case study for consumer service robotics.

Dinosaur Reception, RoBoHoN Rooms & Hospitality Tech · Japan
Henn na Hotel is Japan’s pioneering robot-hotel brand, recognised by Guinness as the first hotel where robots worked as staff (opened 17 July 2015 at Huis Ten Bosch, Nagasaki). Deploying a hybrid human + robot model across multiple properties in Japan, the brand pairs dinosaur or humanoid-robot front desks with RoBoHoN in-room companions (selected properties), LG Styler, holographic interfaces, smart baggage systems, Futocon sleep technology and Chromecast — all in service of a single question: how can technology make a hotel stay more interesting and comfortable?
